I am in Africa.
This is the final leg of my world journey.
I booked a 43 day overland camping safari from Kenya to South Africa. The trip covers 8 African countries, over 4,000 miles, and some of Africa’s most beautiful game parks.
For the next month and a half, I will be in a large, overland vehicle with an unknown group of fellow safari-ists, traveling cross country and visiting various sights during the days, camping during the nights.
I am told that showers will be available at every camp sight, though hot water is not guaranteed.
On the other hand, I’m also told that internet connectivity will be close to non-existant, with a chance to connect roughly once per week.
Therefore, instead of my usual posts, I’ve decided to share entries from my travel journal, along with any photos I manage to upload.
Wish me luck!
Nick

Dearest Nicky,
Of course we wish you luck and ALL other Heavenly Pursuits….. We are with you in spirit and thoughts. And as you now, we are excited for you seeing the lions and tigers. I worry. I am sorry, however, it will be fine. And you know, I am truly happy you are in Africa, one on my wishlist….the only one anymore. LOL, seems travel for me is too much, I went many amazing places with your amazing Father…and I find it difficult to be a trooper and go go. Africa, Enjoy Dear Boy, never stop trying….and hurry home….I am your Mother, after all…..
With Love Always and Forever,
Mom

Wow Nick. Memories for me! I did a very similar safari in 1972 – 3 months in long wheel-based Land Rovers with 14 others, from Kenya to Johannesburg, camping all the way. Enjoy😀

Wow, sounds like a very similar adventure, Kenya to South Africa. I’m sure it was quite the experience, and it would be fun to compare how much things have changed since your trip in 72!

You will love Africa and I can say that because I am currently a safari guide in South Africa and am trying to share my experiences with everyone. It would be greatly appreciated if you have a look at my blog samhankss.wordpress.com and let me know what you think. Many thanks in advance.
